About
Dimitrios is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Health Management Research Group with Imperial College. His work focuses on the organizational analysis of the Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) for Northwest London.
His doctoral research has explored the nature and shape of the implementation process in healthcare, using NICE clinical guidelines (NICE Obesity / Chronic Heart Failure) as exemplar case studies. His work used a whole system approach involving PCTs, hospital trusts and local authorities in different geographical areas in England and drew on principles of realistic evaluation to identify what worked for whom and under what circumstances. His research interests are in the organisation and management of public services. His work draws upon sociological and political science perspectives of power in order to explore how changing roles and relationships between managers and professionals influence the enactment of new evidence in every day practice and notably the latter stages of the implementation process and the sustainable uptake of innovations in practice.
Dimitrios has studied for a PhD on Social Policy from the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research, University of Kent, holds a DIC and MSc in International Health Management from Imperial College, Business School and a Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece.
Dimitrios has also two years of corporate experience providing support for the implementation of various activities in R&D intensive organisations interested in technology commercialisation and business growth. Prior to joining the doctoral program he also practiced in the field of small animal practice and public health management as an official veterinary surgeon.
